What makes you cry on the inside? When you stop, for a second, and forget about all the distractions and escapism in your life, what makes your heart hurt?

Upon review, I think what truly makes me saddest is losing those I love. When Zoë (my dog of 13 years) died, I was beside myself. Even the time leading up to the inevitable death was just heart-wrenching. I could barely sleep, and it killed me to have to feed her by forcing a plastic syringe of gravy down her throat — just so she could live another day. When she was put to sleep, she fought so hard to stay with us…through all the pain of her cancer and recent surgeries. We stayed with her for hours afterward, and I was completely useless for the weeks following. I regretted every time I yelled at her or caused her to be all alone. I miss her so incredibly much. Then, I think of one of my parents dying…or a close friend…or my love…and my eyes just well up with tears. That’s just the worst thing I can imagine.


What is the next big step you want to take in your life?

Big step? Oh, lordy, I’m torn between the real answer and the logical answer. Let’s start with logical, shall we? Okay, I would like to find myself in a job with growth potential…perhaps in a bigger city or at least in a more expansive or creative field. Want to hear the real answer now? I want to marry my soulmate. Want to place bets on which one comes first?
