There is a misconception going around in regards to relationship seekers, and I think I’d like to correct it as much as I can. Males and females alike are getting accused of looking for relationships based on dependency or weakness. In fact, I was recently asked why I needed a boy to validate my life. This is not an unfair question to ask someone; it can make the askee evaluate, think, and realize his or her individual potential. However, in the case of me and many others, it’s simply a misnomer.
It’s no secret that I one day hope to find myself in a good, healthy, long-term, loving relationship. I don’t think this would “validate my life,” per se. It would enhance it.
See, I know what I bring to the table, and I know what I want brought to the table by another. What I want is not to validate my life — but to share my life. I want to make someone happy just by being myself, and I want someone to do the same for me. I can stand alone as a great person, but I strive to eventually find a lifetime partner in crime. Ain’t no party like a best friend and lover party!
And, shoot, I need someone who loves me enough to partake in all the weird crap I want to do. I mean, who else will come with me to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter when it opens in Orlando? WHO?!
