Since when am I a “ma’am?” I don’t think I act very ma’am-like.
Working with kids is a double-edge sword, I tell you. Half of them think I’m pretty cool…you know…because I drive, don’t have to wear a uniform, etc. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that I work with drama kids and art kids; they’re pretty generous with their compliments.
However, when they start “Yes, ma’am”-ing me, that’s where the other edge of the sword comes in. I’m only 23! I’m not even very professional or intelligent-sounding in my speech. I say things like, “Your costume ripped? Well, we’ll just hot-glue that shi— sucker.”
Do I seem like a ma’am to you?
