So, has anyone actually looked at the word “sherbert” when ordering ice cream? I certainly have not. It isn’t sherbert at all — but instead, “sherbet.” That’s so stupid. Sher-bit? The dictionary says both words are acceptable, but…I just don’t know anymore. My reality has been turned upside down.Which do you say?

Which do you say?

  1. molokovellocet answered: I think “sher-bert” is southern, I say it but don’t spell it. like the seerup/surrup/syrup debate.
  2. hipincognito answered: Sherbet like sorbet but if you say “sherbet,”
  3. sweettabimae answered: OMG!! My hubby just called me out on this same thing last week. I have called it SHERBERT for years….sherBET just sounds retarded now.
  4. itsallinmyhead answered: sherbert
  5. couth answered: i say sher-bet, because my teacher pointed out the mispronunciation in grade school. i get a weird look 99% of the time though.
  6. callielion answered: I say sherbert but I spell it sherbet. It blew my mind when I found out, too.
