Font Fun!

In college, my roommate, Nikkie, was assigned a fun project in one of her early graphic design classes. Using only the letters in her name, she had to create a portrait of herself. I remember that it was executed so well; her moles were the dots of carefully placed i’s*, and it charmed my pants off.

Since then, I’ve been fascinated by this type of art. See what I did there? “Type” of art. It’s a pun.

So, without further ado, I would like to show you a few things that I covet as of late…

Octypepus
Behold! “Typetopus” by Matt Sutter is a cute-as-crap example of this kind of work. This baby is available on a t-shirt so that you can receive compliments every hour or so. Click the photo to get to the store.
MissHelvicaNeue
I cannot express in words how much I want to own this. Also by Mr. Sutter, “Miss Helvica Neue” seems to be sold out. BOOOOOO. Bring it back for me? Pweeease?
AlphaBeasties
Modern Mommy tipped her readers off to the above book. Upon further review, it’s ridiculously adorable, and my future kids (and I) MUST have it.

*Oh, jeez. I HATE putting apostrophes where they don’t belong (ahem…plurals), but I could not make the plural of “i” look right. I didn’t want you guys to think she made moles out of the dots of is. IS. Is. Yuck…
