When I was a kid, there were a few people in my life that motivated me to try harder. To perform better. To care and grow. One of those people has found his way back into my life, and I refuse to not benefit from it.
Someone used to always tell me to determine my goals and outline them in writing. So, if I may, I would like to officially declare my new objectives.
1. LEARN FRENCH.
Learning to speak French has been something I wanted to do for at least a decade. Recently, I have been even more ready to learn due to Rob’s French whispered sweet nothings. As of now, I can tell you that la vie est belle. I can politely tell you merci beaucoup. I just might order an omelette du fromage, s’il vous plaît. Thanks to Miss Capucine and Capucha, I know that le popotame était allergique à la magie. However, this doesn’t quite prepare me for my larger goal — traveling to France. So, I’m getting some free Rosetta Stone as I type. My plan is to learn it all before Rob starts remembering more.
2. RESUME BALLET.
I will be the first to admit that I wasn’t very enthusiastic about ballet during my 14 years of lessons. However, I really miss it. I also miss how easily I stayed in shape by practicing just a few hours per week. It’s elegant, fun, and a great method of discipline. Time to break out the pointe shoes again, my friends.
3. LEARN GUITAR.
Now, I know I’m not the most musically gifted person, and I’m not too terribly ashamed of that. I am a pretty great performer, and if I could actually play an instrument, the performance would be validated. I’m not asking for much here…just to learn maybe some basics and some songs. Rob has already got me learning the rhythm riff to a Megadeth song I particularly like. I feel pretty confident that I can learn a thing or two. I’m regaining ownership of the guitar I bought the ex for his twenty-fifth birthday, and I couldn’t be more excited!
4. WHITEN THESE HERE TEETH.
Crest Whitestrips, y’all! Already a shade or two lighter!! Hey, my goals can’t ALL be difficult. I would get discouraged.
So, what are your goals?
