1990s Lumberjack Chic

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a “fashion blog” post. I’ll admit that, since I started working in wardrobe (as opposed to costuming), I’ve really started to dress like crap. I don’t know if it’s that I have to be easily mobile/have pockets/be on my feet all day or if it’s because I now have to care way more about how others look than myself — but it’s taken a toll. However, I had a day off today, so I finally looked less raggamuffin-esque.

Yes, it’s part lumberjack, part 1990s grunge, part mom shorts. But, you know, I really liked it. The flannel shirt is from Target and is incredibly warm and comfy. In fact, I also have it in blue. That’s serious. The high-waisted black shorts were a $50 Urban Outfitters purchase. I also have them in bright indigo. That’s also serious.

I adore these grey sweater tights from Target. They are much warmer than regular ol’ nylons. These shoes are from — you guessed it — Target, too. I’m not convinced that I love them yet; the height on them is unfortunate because they hit above the skinny part of the ankle…giving that fantastic Cankle Illusion.

The earrings are my favorite part of this outfit. They were my mom’s in the 1990s, and I can remember her wearing them. They’re a set containing one golden man and one golden woman.

They remind me of David Bowie & Iman.

So, there you have it. A 1990s lumberjack mom outfit. This is why they pay me the big bucks.
